Drug Investigation Leads to Felony Arrests

Based on an investigation that began in June of 2024, information was obtained that an organization had been actively transporting illegal drugs from the Minneapolis / St. Paul metro area to Moorhead, where they would distribute them. On Sunday, November 3, investigators were able to stop the two males in a vehicle as they were approaching the Moorhead area. During the stop, methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, and morphine pills were seized.

In total, (458) grams of methamphetamine, (48) grams of cocaine, (101) grams of marijuana, and (12) morphine pills. The street value is estimated at $15,000.

Tyler Kania, 35, of Moorhead, MN, and Laquedrick Lemel As-Sidiq, 34, of St. Louis Park, MN, were arrested on felony drug charges. They were transported to the Clay County Correctional Facility. As-Sidiq has a past Federal conviction for drug distribution in Minnesota with a gang identified as "Taliban/Young N' Thuggin." Members of the gang frequently traveled around Minnesota, including our community, to distribute illegal drugs. As-Sidiq is still on Federal Probation for those crimes.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office and Minnesota State Patrol assisted the Moorhead Police Department.
