In 1990, the City of Moorhead and Oakport Township entered into an orderly annexation agreement. In accordance with the agreement, Tract 2 of Oakport Township was annexed on January 1, 2015 and is now within the jurisdictional limits of the City of Moorhead. The remaining tract of this agreement is Tract 3.
Purpose
The Oakport Joint Powers Board is comprised of representatives of the Moorhead City Council, Clay County Commission, and Oakport Township Board. The Oakport Joint Powers Board has the authority to make decisions with respect to the exercise of limited specific joint powers within Tract 3 of Oakport Township. The Joint Powers Board is not vested with the authority to amend and/or modify the Joint Resolution for Orderly Annexation.
