On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Lloyd Hayes was taken into custody in the 1400 block of 20 Street South without incident. Hayes was arrested for several outstanding warrants, including attempted murder and kidnapping for an incident in Elgin, IL., and Madison, WI.
The Moorhead Police Department received a request for assistance from the Madison and Elgin Police Departments, who had received information that Hayes was possibly in the Fargo-Moorhead area. The Moorhead Police Department worked with the Metro Street Crimes Unit and the MN Department Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to collaboratively locate and arrest Hayes as he entered a parking lot.
Hayes was transported to the Clay County Correctional Facility, where he is being held pending extradition.
