Yard waste (leaves, grass clippings, and garden/flowerbed waste) is collected at the curb on your scheduled garbage collection day starting April 11, 2022 through November 18, 2022 depending on weather. The city collects this yard waste and processes it into compost, free to Clay County residents. For more information or to check the availability of finished compost, please call 218.979.9516.
Please assist the city with reducing the plastic waste generated from our yard waste collection operations. Yard waste can be placed in:
- Garbage cans up to 32 gallons in size. The weight cannot exceed 30 pounds.
- Compostable yard waste bags.
- Paper bags.
- Clear Plastic bags.
Compostable bags or clear bags can be purchased at most Moorhead hardware and retail stores. Each container or bag must not exceed 30 pounds, but there is no limit on the total amount that may be picked up. If you have questions, please contact the Public Works Department at 218.299.5422.
You can also bring yard waste to recycling drop sites or the City's Compost Site. Branches cannot be taken to the recycling drop site but may be dropped off at the City's Compost Site.
