City of Moorhead: Mosquito Control Services

The City of Moorhead contracts mosquito control services with the Cass County Vector Control (CCVC) Office to capitalize on their expertise and to closely coordinate mosquito control efforts in the Fargo-Moorhead metro area.

The CCVC provides the following mosquito control services:

  • Adult mosquito surveillance (trap collection and specimen identification)
  • Data reporting
  • Pesticide application to include larvicide
  • Technical direction, coordination of activities, and public relations
  • Administration, mapping, training, operational supplies, field supervision, data management, and product procurement
  • Provides a recommendation to the City of Moorhead Public Works Director on aerial spraying applications
    • CVC coordinates the recommendation with the Cities of Moorhead, Fargo, and West Fargo
    • A coordinated decision is made to aerial spray the entire F-M area to maximize effectiveness and minimize migration of mosquitoes with the F-M area
