Why This is so Important

When a person suffers a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in the United States, bystander CPR is performed only 32% of the time, and where Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) were available, they were only utilized 4% of the time. In both cases, the largest contributing factor was a lack of information. People in the area were not aware of the CPR event and did not know an AED was available.

The solution is crowd-sourcing; using smart phone apps to connect trained by-standers with people suffering  from SCA and providing information about nearby AEDs.  PulsePoint statistics over the last three years demonstrate that for each event, an average of three people are notified of an SCA event, and an average of just over one nearby AED is identified.

CPR Alerts

Turn on CPR alerts and when a person in Sudden Cardiac Arrest is reported in a public location, the PulsePoint App polls people in the area running the app, looking for users that are within 1/4 mile of the medical incident.  If you're one of those people, a special alert tone will sound and a map will appear showing your location, the victim's location and the closest AED.

Abbreviated instructions for performing Hands-Only CPR are available on the app as well.

The PulsePoint app runs in the background and works in any community running PulsePoint, whether you are following that agency or not.  Planning a winter vacation in L.A. or Vegas?  They're both running the app.

For best results,enable GPS and wi-fi.  On the iPhone app, also turn on PulsePoint notifications in the app setting screen.

Alerts for Other Calls

Want to be notified if we respond to a structure fire or car accident?  You can customize which call types you would like to be notified of.  Choose one, many, or none.

NOTE:  Due to current limitations with procedures in place between the Red River Regional Dispatch Center and local fire departments in Cass and Clay Counties, we cannot differentiate between basic structure fire calls (fire alarms, no sign of fire) and Confirmed/Working Structure Fires (flames or smoke reported), all fire type calls are currently reported as a Structure Fire in the app.

Live Dispatch Audio

Listen to live dispatch audio as it happens.  For calls we respond to in other jurisdictions, larger incidents and in certain areas where portable radio coverage is difficult, we will switch to other radio frequencies that this app does not monitor. You can also follow our live audio on Broadcastify.
