On September 26, 2025, the Moorhead Police Department assisted the Metro Street Crimes Unit in the 1400 block of 20th Street South as part of an ongoing investigation into a violent offender.
The Metro Street Crimes Unit was attempting to locate 25-year-old Dennis Salinas, who was wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred in Fargo, North Dakota, on September 17. Investigators were able to identify an apartment where Salinas was believed to be located.
Due to Salinas’ violent criminal history and active warrants, the Metro Street Crimes Unit and the Moorhead Police Department requested the assistance of the Red River Valley SWAT Team to ensure a safe and controlled operation.
The Red River Valley SWAT Team executed a tactical entry into the apartment and detained several individuals, including Salinas. During the operation an officer observed an item being thrown from the balcony area, which was later recovered and identified as a firearm.
Three individuals were arrested and transported to the Clay County Jail on outstanding warrants:
- 35-year-old Dennis Salinas
- 30-year-old Andrew Collison (unrelated to the shooting)
- 27-year-old Heather Badar (unrelated to the shooting)
The Moorhead Police Department would like to thank the Metro Street Crimes Unit, the Red River Valley SWAT Team and other agencies for bringing this incident to a peaceful resolution.
