The City of Moorhead is set to take a significant step forward in the construction of a new grandstand at Matson Field Stadium. City Council approved an agreement with MBA Development Company for construction of the project at the November 25 Council Meeting.
The Matson Field Stadium Project includes the construction of an elevated concrete grandstand, press box, and backstop netting system.
On September 9, 2024, the City Council approved a contract with MBA Development Company to provide Construction Manager at Risk services for the project. Following the completion of construction documents and a competitive bidding process, MBA Development Company is ready for the construction phase.
MBA Development Company will provide construction manager services to the completion of the project. Construction is set to begin on July 1, 2025, minimizing disruptions to the high school and legion baseball seasons. The project is scheduled for completion before the spring baseball season in 2026.
The project’s funding currently totals $1,165,600, sourced from various contributions:
- $325,000 from the Convention and Visitors Bureau Grant
- $250,000 from the Moorhead American Legion Post 21
- $25,000 from the Alex Stern Foundation Grant
- $61,000 from local businesses and community members
- $504,475 from the American Rescue Plan Act and Capital Improvement funds
