Moorhead Police Respond to Stabbing Incident

On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at approximately 9:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of 17 Street South for a reported stabbing. The adult male victim stated he went outside his residence when he noted an unknown male standing by a vehicle in the driveway. The victim and suspect exchanged words, which then escalated to a physical confrontation resulting in the suspect stabbing the victim in his left side. The suspect then fled westbound, and the victim contacted 911.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Essentia Health by Sanford Ambulance. The suspect was not located, nor was any weapon. The only description the victim was able to provide was the suspect was an adult Native American male with an unknown physical or clothing description.

The incident is still under investigation. Area residents are asked to check their surveillance equipment to assist in obtaining a better description of the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the Red River Regional Dispatch Center at 701.451.7660 and ask to speak with on-duty Moorhead Police Supervisor.
