Wye track to open near SE Main|20 St|21 St project
As the SE Main/20 St/21/St underpass project moves through final wrap-up phases, one of the most important – but not as evident – pieces will be fully operational by September 8.
The completion of the wye track will allow trains to move between the Dilworth rail yard and Breckenridge or Fergus Falls without stopping in Downtown Moorhead and backing up. Currently, a train that is forced to stop and back up blocks all or most downtown rail crossings for up to 20 minutes each time. The wye track will allow them to turn and go south or east without entering downtown. Motorists who travel along this route will immediately see the impact of this change.
