On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at approximately 12:30 pm, juveniles located a body near the shoreline of the Red River. Upon the arrival of first responders, it was confirmed to be a deceased body in the river that appeared to have been in the water for a significant period of time. With the assistance of the Moorhead Fire Department, the body was recovered and secured by members of the Moorhead Police Department. Personal property located on the deceased leads to believe the preliminary identification of an adult male. The body will be transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to include positive identification.
The Moorhead Police Department was assisted by members of the Clay County Sheriff's Office, the Moorhead Fire Department, and Sanford Ambulance.
