2018 Johnson and Walz Awards

Officer Zach Johnson and his trainee, Officer Ezra Walz, were dispatched to a male who was reportedly wanting to commit suicide by entering the river. The officers observed clothing near the water's edge and began their search for the male. Officer Walz observed an unconscious person floating in the river after passing over the midtown dam. Officer Walz then entered the water to over his waist, in the darkness, and without regard for his own safety, to retrieve the male. Officer Johnson followed shortly after entering the water up to his thighs and assisted in dragging the male to shore. Both officers began performing life-saving measures until the male was revived.
