Community Service Officer (CSO) Cameron Cordes self-dispatched himself to a report of a person clinging to a tree overhanging in the Red River. CSO Cordes is not in a licensed peace officer position and therefore his actions were well outside the scope of his duties. He entered into over waist deep water where he found the subject. The individual had his feet hung up between an underwater obstacle of tangled roots, branches, and deep mud, in combination with the river current that made him unable to free himself. CSO Cordes ignored exposure to personnel peril in freeing the subject from the entanglement and delivering him to shore to wait officers.
