A slope failure occurred this morning between a section of sheeting and the temporary “shoo-fly” railroad track at the SE Main Avenue|20 St|21 St underpass project causing settlement of part of the railroad track in the 400 block of 21 St S. There have been no injuries or damage to trains or private property. Train traffic on this track has stopped until the shoo-fly can be stabilized and repaired. The construction contractor and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway crews will begin making the repairs on Tuesday morning, and anticipate that the shoo-fly track will be fully repaired and operational by the end of the day. There are no automobile or pedestrian travel impacts beyond those detours already in place.
This is an active construction site on railroad property restricted to authorized personnel only. Observe detours and signage and keep children safely from the area.
