In late July, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued new guidelines concerning the spread and transmission rates of COVID. There are four categories – low, moderate, substantial, high – that define how we should react. The categories are based on two metrics: the number of new cases per 100,000 residents and the percentage of coronavirus tests that come back positive in a seven-day period.
Clay (MN) and Cass (ND) counties are currently in the “high” category. Through the pandemic, the City of Moorhead has followed the CDC, Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and Clay County Public Health (CCPH) guidelines. The City will continue to follow these guidelines, which could change as situations and CDC guidelines evolve.
Per CDC, MDH and CCPH guidelines, everyone – both fully vaccinated and unvaccinated – must wear a mask in all City of Moorhead-owned buildings. Masks will be offered for visitors who do not have them. Additionally, maintaining social distancing of 6 feet is recommended.
All people are encouraged to take advantage of COVID vaccinations. CCPH holds free walk-in clinics, or the vaccine can be received free at nearly all healthcare providers and pharmacies.
