While 2019 river flooding is most likely to be in the range of 38 feet, lower probability flood stages in the forecast now include levels approaching the 2009 flood of record. The City of Moorhead's flood mitigation projects were designed for these levels. Where necessary, the City's flood emergency plan includes implementing measures to protect public infrastructure and essential service continuation at these flood stages, and City staff are taking steps to prepare to implement these measures as indicated by updated forecasts.
Some privately owned properties along the riverfront may be impacted. An updated flood mapping tool displays various river stages in one--half foot increments. Property owners can "zoom in" to view potential impact areas specific to their property.
