Results of Busted by the Bus for April 20
Law Enforcement from the Moorhead Police Department, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and the MN State Patrol again worked a four hour block focusing on distracted driving on 8 St today. Officers acted as spotters as they rode on a school bus provided by the Moorhead School District. Other officers acted as chase cars along the route and stopped drivers who were violating traffic laws. The goal was to increase driver’s awareness around school buses and to enforcement distracted driving laws which often leads to driver’s committing school bus stop arm violations.
Today officers stopped eighty-three vehicles. Twenty-five citations were issued to drivers for distracted driving. Officers also issued twenty-two citations for no seatbelt use.
The 2018 Busted by the Bus event resulted in a total of one hundred fifty-eight vehicles stopped. Fifty-two drivers were cited for distracted driving. Forty-seven drivers were cited for not wearing their seatbelts.
