Some trees to be removed/replaced along Center Ave

To prepare for planned reconstruction work along Center Avenue, the City of Moorhead will begin removing some trees between 4 and 8 Streets the week of April 4.

City Forestry assessed the trees along Center Ave with the goal of retaining as many trees as possible. Tree selection and removal are based on the new pavement/sidewalk improvements, disease vulnerability, and lack of soil volume available for continued growth.

Post construction, some trees will be replaced with new tree varieties that will prosper in a downtown environment, and the planting areas will be large enough to provide adequate space to allow healthy tree growth.

Trees slated for removal will be marked on April 4; removal will begin on April 5 and continue until the work is completed. Traffic delays should be minimal.
