Six residents have applied to fill the vacant Ward 2 City Council seat. The opening was created after former Mayor Johnathon Judd was appointed to a district court judge position in January by Governor Tim Walz. The City Council then elected Ward 2 Council Member Shelly Carlson to be Mayor.
The applicants for the Ward 2 City Council seat are:
- Evan Balko
- Gail Enkers
- Lillian Guetter
- Michael Hajostek
- David Marquardt
- Heather Nesemeier
Applications for the position closed March 31. All applicants for the open seat must live in Ward 2 to be considered.
The City Council will interview applicants during its April 12 meeting. The Council will discuss those applicants at the April 26 Council meeting and will appoint the next Ward 2 Council member. The appointee will be sworn in at the May 10 Council meeting.
The appointed Ward 2 Council Member will serve until December 31, 2022 unless re-elected in the November 2022 city election.
