The Moorhead Police Athletics and Activities League, with support from the Moorhead Police Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Target, Gate City Bank, and the Clay County Deputies Association, have teamed up for the third annual Shop-with-a-Cop program.
Due to Covid restrictions, the usual in-person event was changed this year. The pre-selected families from across Clay County have already met virtually with officers from the Moorhead Police Department and Clay County Sheriff’s Office. On Tuesday, December 14, 2020, starting at 6:30 pm, families will pick up their gifts at the Clay County Law Enforcement Center. There they will meet the officers in person and get their gifts from Santa.
Over the three years of this program, participation has risen from eight kids in 2018 to sixteen kids in 2019 and peaked at fifty-six kids in 2020. Overall, the Moorhead Police Athletics and Activities League has helped over 1,000 kids in our community through volunteer programs like this one.
