COVID-19: Governor’s Executive Order mandates closures of bars, restaurants, places of public accommodation

Executive Order 20-04/20-08 Requires Closure through March 27, 2020

Post Date:03/20/2020 11:30 am

Governor Walz issued Executive Orders on March 16 and March 18, ordering the closure of bars and restaurants for on-premises consumption, and places of public accommodation, including theaters, museums, gymnasiums, salons, barbershops, and similar establishments for service to the public. Places of public accommodation are encouraged to offer food and beverage using delivery service and window service.

While these restrictions are a major disruption to the economy as a whole—businesses, employees, and consumers, it is intended to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our state and in our city.

The City of Moorhead will work collaboratively with our local businesses to ensure voluntary compliance, however, if violations of the order do occur, the Executive Order clearly states law enforcement and public health authorities are mandated to monitor and enforce the order in accordance with the law.

Thank you for your cooperation during this challenging time.
