Busted by the Bus Results Day 2

Law Enforcement from the Moorhead Police Department, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and the MN State Patrol again worked a four hour block focusing on distracted driving on 8 St. Officers acted as spotters as they rode on a school bus provided by the Moorhead School District. Other officers acted as chase cars along the route and stopped drivers who were violating traffic laws. The goal was to increase driver’s awareness around school buses and to enforcement distracted driving laws which often leads to driver’s committing school bus stop arm violations.

Today officers stopped thirty-three vehicles. Fifteen citations were issued to drivers for distracted driving.

The 2019 Busted by the Bus event resulted in a total of sixty-five vehicles stopped. Twenty-nine drivers were cited for distracted driving.

Officers in Clay County will continue to focus on distracted driving violations through April 30.
