Natural Gas Outage Update

Post Date:02/15/2019 4:26 pm

We recognize this is a difficult situation due to the cold weather. Here are some important safety tips for those affected by the gas outage:

  • Consider leaving your furnace fan on for air circulation even while the heat is shut off to distribute the heat throughout the house.
  • Run a trickle of water through a faucet to keep pipes from freezing if the temperature in your home drops to a concerning level.
  • Use space heaters carefully.
    • Plug them in directly to an outlet, not an extension cord. Allow 3 feet of space around the heater.
    • Do not use kerosene or propane heaters indoors as they emit carbon monoxide.
    • Do not use wood burning fireplaces or stoves that have not been recently serviced

The precise time natural gas service will be restored is not yet known, but contingency plans are being developed for shelter and transportation if needed.
