Terms of office for newly elected officers of Minnesota charter cities begin the first Monday in January following an election. The newly elected officers must also take an oath of office prior to assuming official duties. Swearing in of Moorhead’s newly elected officers will be as follows:
- Monday, January 7, 2019 at 4:15 pm: Mayor-Elect Johnathan Judd, Council Member-Elect Shelly Dahlquist (Ward 1), and Council Member Chuck Hendrickson (re-elected Ward 4) will take the oath of office and be sworn in by the Honorable Judge Amber B. Gustafson during a ceremony in the Moorhead City Council Chambers, City Hall
- Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 3:30 pm: Council Member-Elect Deb White (Ward 3) will take the oath of office during a brief ceremony in the Moorhead City Council Chambers, City Hall
- Council Member Shelly Carlson (Ward 2) was sworn in and assumed office on November 13, 2018, filling the Ward 2 vacancy left by Melissa Fabian who moved out of state
- Monday, January 28, 2019 at 4:00 pm: Celebration of new 2019 Moorhead City Council with four new members and five current members. Music, cake, and refreshments. City Hall, Mall Atrium
