Notice of Public Hearing for MATBUS Route Changes

Proposed changes to MATBUS Routes 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and MAT Paratransit

Proposed Transit Service Changes to
Moorhead MATBUS Routes 1, 2, 3, 5 & 8
and MAT Paratransit

MATBUS is proposing route changes to become effective July 1, 2017.  More detailed information, including proposed maps, timetables and comment cards, can be found at the GTC or online at matbus.com.  Increased service in the evenings, on Saturdays and on MAT Paratransit for Sundays are funded through a two-year pilot program grant. 

Routes 1, 2 and 3 Changes

  • Add service in the evening until 11:15 pm
  • Add a second bus on each route Saturdays for 30-minute frequency rather than 60-minute.

Route 5 Change

  • Add service in the evening until 11:15 pm
  • Add a second bus on Saturdays for 30-minute frequency rather than 60-minute.
  • Make permanent the current detour near the Minnesota State Community and Technical Institute (M|State) .
  • The area south of I-94 that would be affected is from 14th Street South to 8th Street and 30th Avenue South to 37th Avenue  (see map at matbus.com).

 Route 8 Elimination

  • Night Route 8 to be eliminated and replaced with Routes 1, 2, 3 and 5 operating until 11:15 pm.

MAT Paratransit Sunday Service:  MAT Paratransit service for persons with disabilities to be added on Sunday from 7 am to 5 pm for Moorhead and Dilworth residents who are certified as eligible.  

An open house will be held at the GTC on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 9-10 am and 4-5 pm for the public to review and comment on the proposals.

A public hearing will be held at the Moorhead City Council Chambers on Monday, May 8, 2017, at 5:45 pm for the Council to receive and review comments and consider approval of the route changes.
