Accident at 5 St S and 32 Ave S
1 Adult Female Arrested for DUI
On December 31, 2016, at 1638 hours, Officers were sent to the intersection of 5 St and 32 Ave S for a report of an injury accident. The driver walked away prior to officers arriving on scene but they were able to locate her. Several witnesses were able to place her in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Initial reports indicated the vehicle crashed into the fire hydrant at about 50 mph. The fire hydrant had been completely sheered off at the base but fortunately no water was running through it at the time.
The vehicle involved was 2003 black Nissan Murano SUV. It had significant damage. The vehicle was taken from Nick's Auto Sales at the corner of 8 St and 32 Ave S as a test drive. As they were getting the car ready for the test drive, she got in and drove away. The driver has been identified as Sumaya Hassan, 27 years old from Fargo. She is being held at the Clay County Jail on the following charges:
- 1st Degree DUI
- 1st Degree Test Refusal
- Criminal Damage to Property
- False Name and DOB to an Officer
- Driving After Revocation
She did not get injured in the accident. This is the second DUI Arrest since noon today by Moorhead Police. We encourage everyone to find a safe ride home tonight and watch for other intoxicated drivers.
