MATBUS Downtown Circulator Route 

 

 

The City of Fargo and City of Moorhead are planning the addition of a MATBUS Downtown Circulator Route to become effective June 1, 2015, generally described below.  The route being proposed would allow improved access between the downtowns of Fargo and Moorhead with a Park and Ride agreement at the Moorhead Center Mall.  A map of the proposed new route is on display at the Ground Transportation Center (GTC), 502 NP Ave, Fargo ND.

Public Hearing:  A public hearing will be held by the Moorhead City Council on, Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 5:45 pm. in the First Floor Council Chambers of City Hall, 500 Center Ave, Moorhead MN.  At the hearing, the City of Moorhead will afford an opportunity for interested persons to be heard with respect to the proposed new route.  Written comments may be submitted in advance of the public hearing to:  Lori Van Beek, Transit Manager, 650 23 St N, Fargo ND 58102, E-mail:  Contact Transit Manager, or telephone 701.476.6686.

Downtown Circulator:  As proposed, the route will operate from 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and will have a frequency of 15 minutes or less.  The route will be free, with no fare charged.  Transfers will not be issued between the Circulator and other MATBUS routes.  The route will travel outbound from the GTC and head east on NP Ave, continuing into Moorhead onto Center Avenue.  The route will then turn north on 3 St N, east on Center Mall Avenue, south on 7 St S, west on Center Ave, north on 3 St N, and west on 1 Ave N.  The route will then continue west into Fargo on 1 Ave N, south on 8 St N, then east onto NP Ave, ending at the GTC.  There will be nine bus stops along the route:   In Fargo, the GTC/Family Health Center, City Hall, Gate City Bank, Plains Art Museum, and NDSU Renaissance Hall.  In Moorhead, the northwest entrance to the Center Mall, the northeast parking lot of the Center Mall (in the Park and Ride area), the southeast entrance to the Center Mall, and the Heritage-Hjemkomst Interpretive Center.  The route will only stop at the Park and Ride area until the Center Mall opens at 10 am.
